Glen Strathfarrar ... April 07
Carn nan Gobhar, - Sgurr a' Choire Ghlais,
Sgurr Fhuar-thuill, - Sgurr na Ruaidhe,

A large circular route taking in the four munro's on the northern side of Glen Strathfarrar. I used the bike to make sharp work of the six miles through the glen then walked back over the superb high level ridge. A tremendous day out. The weather was warm and sunny with little wind, yet again a persistant haze kept visibility down to the 10 mile mark.

Leaving the glen and heading up into Coire Mhuillidh. The snow covered hill in the distance is Sgurr a' Choire Ghlais

Looking south over the summit of Sgurr a'Choire Ghlais, the most southerly cairn (furthest away) felt distinctly higher than the trig point, optical illusion ???

On a clear day this could be one of the finest views in Scotland. To the left we have the hills of Loch Mullardoch and to the right of Loch Monar we see the hills of Achnashellach.

Leaving Monar Lodge and following the road round to the Dam, where I had parked up some 9 hours earlier. The big hill on the skyline is Sgurr na Lapaich.

Glen Strathfarrar is a very beautiful well kept glen and worthy of a visit in its own right. The river Farrar has many deep pools and small Lochans and provides loads of oppurtunities for swimming. I found an ideal spot just downstream from the ford at 226387, the water was notably warmer than on Mull a week earlier. (I may of lasted 5 minutes!)
