Maoile Lunndaidh ... November 2005
Maoile Lunndaidh

A bitterly cold but still day giving a perfect winters outing in a true north west setting. This is my second ascent of this hill, the first being from Glen Carron, although longer and less convenient, this is by far the best approach.

Leaving Monar Dam well before sunrise under a full moonlit sky and a very chilly -11°C

Through the cutting above Monar Lodge, the left most hill is Lurg Mhor, our hill Maoile Lunndaidh is the right most snow covered hill, our route follows the righthand side of the loch

A zoom in on the very impressive eastern ridge of Lurg Mhor, I doubt this is often walked!

To this estates credit they still use highland ponies to carry the deer off the hill. Not to be confused with "my little pony" this has to be one of the toughest and hardiest beasts about!
