Ben Donich and The Brack
Arrochar
14th June 2008

The use of a bike gives the opportunity of doing a full traverse of these two Corbetts
in the Arrochar Alps.

Looking south from the pass of rest and be thankful, the hill on the right is The Brack.
From here it is easy to free wheel all the way down to Loch Long.

The Arrocher Alps, from Ben Donich to the Cobbler

This area half way up the east ridge of Ben Donich marked by this cairn is a little unusual in that the ground is riddled with deep chasms, some only several feet wide but 20 - 30 foot deep, could be dodgy area to cross when under snow. I also come across another half way down the north side of The Brack. Can't say I have ever seen anything quite like it in the Scottish hills.
Below are a couple of pictures, they don't quite show how sinister they actually are, the one on the left is about 2' wide (hidden by heather in some places) and over 25' deep, the one on the right a little more obvious but deep, 30' - 40' ?
