Beinn Mhic Chasgaig
Glen Etive
15th March 2008

In some respects this wee hill appears to be no more than a western outlier of Creise, however it is much more than that. The walk in via the deep rocky pools just up stream of Alltchaorunn, then the splendit deep cut Glen Ghiubhasan are a joy in themselves. The hill itself is steep and rugged with splendid views in all directions. My pictures go no where near depicting the true beauty of this hill.

Heading into Glen Etive. Our hill, Beinn Mhic Chasgaig is the mist shrouded hill just right of center.

The controversial gate
For many years this heavily fortified gate was locked making access to the east side of the Etive very difficult. New access laws have forced the land owners to remove the padlock and take down some of the barb wire.

Upstream of Alltchaorunn Lodge has many deep pools fed by mini waterfalls
a fantastic place to swim on a summers day.

Following the Allt Coire Ghiubhasan into the steep sided glen, note the little bridge.

That liitle bridge.

Looking back down Coire Ghiubhasan. The strange saddle shape feature is the northern end
of Beinn Ceitlein. Bidean Nam Bian was also visible, just didn't come out in the photograph.
A spectacular place!

Heading into Coire Odhar. I guess these steams could be a major obstacle when in spate.

Not really a sensible way off, but I had studied it from the bottom on the way up!
