Beinn Resipol
Sunart
14th February 2008

This is my first ever trip into the land of Morven , Sunart and Ardgour, and wow, what a place, this has to be as good as hill walking countryside as anywhere else. Beinn Resipole by itself would be a very short day out, so to make more of a day of it, I descided on the full traverse, so parking next to the bridge at Resipole I cycled the 6 miles east to Strontian. then traversed east to west along the whole length of Beinn Resipol. In hind sight I think I done this walk the wrong way round as the best views were always behind me. So if you are thinking of the full traverse cycle, from Stontian to Resipole. And make sure you choose a good day as the views are tremendous. A persistant haze today limited the distant views.

The views over Loch Sunart are spectacular and the road passes through much natural Caladonian woodland and as such is rich in wildlife.

From Strontian I followed the old miners track onto the hill, the track is obviously used by quad bikes and as such is rutted and a bit of a mess. There is never much of a view of Beinn Resipole, however the view east into Ardgour is inspiring, the big hill, centre left, is Sgurr Dhomhnuill, with Garbh Bheinn on the right
